The World Digital Detox Day (WDDD) , an initiative of ZEP Foundation , continues to take the message of Digital Wellness beyond classrooms and conference halls—into the heart of communities, culture, and tradition.
As part of the week-long Ashadhi Ekadashi celebrations, Dada Patil Mahavidyalaya, Karjat, District Ahilyanagar (Affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University) , in collaboration with its National Service Scheme (NSS), Cultural Department, and ZEP Foundation, Mumbai, organized the WDDD Digital Detox Dindi on 18 July 2026 .
Inspired by Maharashtra's centuries-old Dindi tradition, the initiative encouraged students, educators, and community members to observe Digital Fasting—taking a conscious break from smartphones and unnecessary screen use to reconnect with family, faith, nature, and meaningful human interactions.
The campaign carried a simple yet powerful message:
"Practice Digital Fasting. Dedicate one day to Panduranga Vithoba."
By integrating Digital Wellness into one of India's most cherished spiritual traditions, the event demonstrated that technology and tradition can coexist when used mindfully. Participants were encouraged to experience the joy of being fully present, strengthening relationships, improving focus, and embracing a healthier digital lifestyle.
This celebration was not limited to a single event. It formed part of a week-long series of Ashadhi Ekadashi programmes, with the Digital Detox Dindi serving as one of the many inspiring activities that brought the message of Digital Wellness to students and the wider community. The accompanying video offers just a glimpse of the enthusiasm, participation, and positive energy witnessed throughout the celebrations.
The initiative reflects WDDD's growing global approach of making Digital Wellness locally relevant by connecting it with cultural values, festivals, educational institutions, and community movements. Rather than asking people to reject technology, WDDD encourages them to build healthier and more intentional relationships with it.
As the movement continues to expand across 78 countries, every awareness drive, rally, workshop, school programme, and community event brings the world one step closer to a future where technology serves humanity—not the other way around.
Protect Childhood. Disconnect to Reconnect.
